Cris Neff Honored by The Wisconsin Lakes and Rivers Partnership

Congratulations to Friends of the Eau Claire Lakes Area Board Member Christine Neff, who this week received the Wisconsin Lake Stewardship Award in the category of Programmatic Excellence for Lake Health.

Cris joined the FOECLA Board in 2008 and has been a leader and tireless advocate for Wisconsin Lakes, particularly those in our area. Among her many contributions, Cris is the co-founder and volunteer manager of the LEEP (Lake Ecology Education Program), for which she was honored. The LEEP program, in partnership with the Drummond Area School District, encourages students to learn about our area’s natural resources, their interconnectedness, value, and vulnerability, and to become life-long stewards of the lakes.

Cris also serves on the board of directors of the Friends of the Eau Claire Lakes Area (FOECLA,) participates on the Town’s Aquatic Invasive Species Committee, serves as a Clean Boats, Clean Waters boat landing monitor, and works as a diver on the Town’s BAISS (Boating Aquatic Invasive Species Sucker) boat.

The Wisconsin Lake Stewardship Awards, presented by The Wisconsin Lakes & Rivers Partnership, were announced at the Wisconsin Lakes and Rivers Convention, an annual event held in Stevens Point. The Wisconsin Lakes and Rivers Partnership joins science, education, and citizens to empower people to work together to care for our water resources. The Partnership has three core partners: the Department of Natural Resources (which supplies scientific research, technical expertise, and regulatory authority), the Extension Lakes Program (which provides supporting educational materials and programs), and Wisconsin Lakes (which mobilizes citizens to be advocates for lakes).

Thank you, Cris! We are grateful to you for all your contributions.
