Proud to Co-Sponsor the MacQuarrie Pilgrimage and Tour August 2022

We’re pleased to co-sponsor this event presented by the Barnes Area Historical Association on August 26 and 27 featuring one of our area’s “favorite sons.” MacQuarrie, who built a cabin on Middle Eau Claire Lake, was born in Superior in 1901. He is credited with becoming the first full-time, professional outdoor writer in America when he became the outdoor editor of the Milwaukee Journal in 1936. MacQuarrie is best known for his short stories involving fishing and hunting, and for his semi-fictional organization known as The Old Duck Hunters’ Association, Inc. MacQuarrie was friends with Aldo Leopold, and Leopold’s influence can be seen in MacQuarrie’s writings. For more information and to register, visit https://bahamuseum.org.
